Albany Fire Chief James Carswell said that at this point, they are approaching the investigation from the perspective that both incidents may be linked, although no definitive evidence has been discovered to support any correlation between the shooting and last night's arson.
Albany Police Spokesperson Phyllis Banks said, however, that at this point in the police investigation, they are treating both as seperate incidents saying that nothing has been found to link the two incidents.
Police say 37-year-old Michael Jones was shot in the stomach after a fight at 109 East Road Tuesday. He remains hospitalized and police are looking to question 21-year-old Micheal Eady.
Carswell said firefighters responded to the scene shortly before midnight and discovered the fire, which he said investigators believe was started in the living room on a couch.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
