SAVANNAH -- Southwest Georgia will be on the court and on the bench this weekend in Savannah, where officials are holding the GACA boys and girls North-South All-Star basketball games.
Dougherty's girls coach Charlene Jackson will coach the GACA South All-Star junior team at 2 p.m. today at Savannah State, and Dougherty assistant coach Corey Joyner and Lee County head coach Fran McPherson will be assistant coaches for the South in that game.
Several players from Southwest Georgia will play this weekend. Dougherty's Jasmine Levant, Lee County's Jessica Clinton, Bainbridge's April Thomas and Americus-Sumter's Jayme Gilbert are all on the junior All-Star team roster. Herald Super 6ers Destiny Mitchell from Randolph-Clay and Alexis Burke from Bainbridge are on the senior All-Star team roster.
Two area boys players made the South's Senior All-Star team: Monroe Super 6er Robert Arnold and Dougherty Super 6er Arabian Williams will play Sunday at Savannah State in the boys senior All-Star Game.
