ALBANY -- The Albany Police Department announced Monday the arrest of another suspect in the January hit-and-run death of 66-year-old Roosevelt Coley.
Albany Police Department spokesperson Phyllis Banks said Antwan Jermaine "Obesi" Fields, 37, turned himself in at the Dougherty County Jail Sunday evening at 8 p.m.
Fields was wanted by police in connection with covering up the crime.
Fields was the owner of the 1996 Burgundy Buick that his cousin, Terry Roberson, 34, was driving when Roberson struck Coley.
Roberson was arrested previously by police and charged with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run and multiple other charges stemming from striking Coley at about 8 p.m. Jan. 16 at the intersection of Oglethorpe Boulevard and Jefferson Street.
Police said previously that investigators were able to execute a search warrant for the 1996 Buick and were able to find parts that were replaced on the vehicle to cover up the crime.
Fields has been charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction of an officer and is currently being held at the Dougherty County Jail.
Police continue to search for a second car: an SUV that they said hit Coley after Roberson while Coley walked in the crosswalk with the right of way. Both vehicles went through a red light and hit Coley.
Roberson possibly fled the crash scene because his license had been suspended and he was drinking, officers have said.
Investigators have said they are still unsure which vehicle caused Coley's death.
Police would like anyone who knows about the SUV or other people who have helped repair the Buick to call (229) 431-2100 and ask for the traffic unit or call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or (229) 431-3288.
