Cohilas, who has primarily worked as the DA's sex crimes and major case prosecutor during his tenure, will resign April 27, he said.
"It's with a heavy heart that I'll be leaving this office," he said. "This affords me with an opportunity to develop professionally in a new way. I'm extremely grateful for the opportunities that this office has provided for me over the years, especially working under Ken (Hodges) and Greg (Edwards)."
Cohilas will assume the role of Senior Associate at Watson Spence Law Firm here in Albany where he will focus on litigation and trial law.
