ALBANY, Ga. -- The Cinnabon at the Albany Mall will be the highlight of a national news show that will air this evening.
Frank Ross, owner of the Cinnabon located at the Albany Mall, said he was contacted by the corporate office Friday about the bakery being featured on the Fox Business Channel.
The Albany Cinnabon will be featured on the Neil Cavuto show at 6 p.m. today on the Fox Business Channel. Cavuto will be interviewing Cinnabon President Gary Bales about Cinnabon's new design and business model.
"Our bakery is going to be featured because we are the only store on the East Coast that has the new look the company designed recently," Ross said.
The Albany Cinnabon, which opened Dec. 23, is also currently leading the nation in sales.
"We have been working very hard and we feel that this is a great opportunity to highlight Albany and the good things here," Ross said.
Footage for the interview was shot Wednesday at the Albany Mall. It features Ross and Cinnabon team members making dough and the bakery's newest feature -- cupcakes.
"They filmed everything we do here. They (the film crews) were here for about four hours," said Ross.
When they received the call from corporate headquarters Ross said that he was surprised and honored. "We were elated and it took me a while to grasp exactly what was going on," he said.
Ross said the national attention is a great opportunity for not only the bakery, but for Albany.
"My wife and I have worked extremely hard to make this business successful. When we first contacted Cinnabon about putting a store here in Albany they had some reservations," he said.
Ross said Cinnabon was concerned that the Albany Mall did not have enough traffic to support sales. "Our success is due to, I think, the fact our team members are very committed and work very hard to provide the best for our customers," he said.
