ALBANY, Ga. -- City officials are set for their annual Easter Egg-stravaganza Saturday and hope to fill Tift Park will youngsters eager to do some hunting.
Beginning at 10 a.m., the portion of the park closest to the corner of North Monroe Street and Fifth Avenue will open up to the public, Albany Recreation and Parks spokesperson Kristin Caso said.
The event will feature games with prizes-- potato sack races, relay races and others -- arts and crafts, candy and an Easter Egg hunt for three different sets of age groups all 10 or under.
The hunt is BYOB -- bring your own basket -- officials say, and baskets won't be provided at the event, Caso said.
The event is sponsored by Albany Recreation and Parks and the Verizon Wireless Store at the Albany Mall.
The event is free to the public but all children must be accompanied by an adult, Caso said.
"We're looking forward to great weather and lots of people," Caso said. "There'll be lots of things to do and we're hoping to have a big turnout."
