ALBANY, Ga. -- Two of four gang members arrested for a Saturday armed robbery are juveniles but face adult charges, Albany Police Department officials said.
"In reference to an armed robbery that occurred at 1001 Dunes (Ave.) on March 20: Through an investigation we served three warrants and made four arrests," said Hope Ellis, police gang investigator. "They targeted Hispanic victims."
Those arrested were Demontae Price, 14; his brother Kovarious Price, 16; Clifford Parker, 17, and Deleterious Stills, 24, Ellis said.
The four were being held Thursday in the Dougherty County Jail, a jail spokeswoman said. Each is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts armed robbery and two counts gang participation, she said.
Another man, Roger Lewis, 20, has no warrants on him, but is being sought as a person of interest in the case, Ellis said.
The violent robbery was planned as a gang, she said. Ellis declined to identify the gang because of the continuing investigation. The arrests were made this week with the first on Monday, she added.
"They were all going to go as a gang and commit the robbery," Ellis said. "They took an undetermined amount of money."
There was a gathering of Hispanic men at a trailer lot when about five black males approached at 10:30 p.m., Ellis said. One victim was in the trailer while the other was coming out, she said.
The bandits pushed the first victim back into the trailer, where he and the other victim were struck with handguns and robbed, Ellis said.
Because there have been other robberies of Hispanic residents, the gang and the Albany police robbery-homicide units continue to investigate the possibility that the Hispanic community is being specifically targeted, police officials said.
In another case, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a shooting on March 15, said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman.
Michael Eady, 21, was arrested at 11 a.m. Thursday in the shooting of Michael Angelo Jones, 37. Jones was shot in the stomach once with a small-caliber handgun on March 15 at 109 East Road, Banks said.
Jones has since been discharged from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
