ALBANY -- The Sherwood girls soccer team secured the No. 3 seed in the upcoming GISA Class AA state playoffs Monday with a 3-1 win against Tiftarea behind goals from Mary Margaret Charles, who scored two, and Katie Foster. All three scores were assisted by Paige Barker.
The Lady Eagles actually tied for first with Georgia Christian and Terrell Academy, but will be the No. 3 seed because they lost out on tiebreakers to both schools.
"We've been playing really well lately and have only lost one game since spring break," said SCA coach Jason Schults, whose girls have now won six of their last seven games. "Ever since the break, everything's just come together."
The Lady Eagles' overall record is 14-10-1, while they improved to 5-2-1 in Region 3-AA with Monday's win.
