ALBANY, Ga. — The driver of a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was involved in a Monday night crash on Nottingham Way has been charged with reckless driving, driving without a license, improper passing and failure to maintain a lane.

According to Phyllis Banks, spokesperson for the Albany Police Department, 19-year-old Marcial Martinez was driving south on Nottingham Way when he attempted to pass another vehicle. Martinez lost control of the vehicle and hit a curb, striking a fence.

“The vehicle hit the fence at least twice and then the car overturned,” said Banks.

Authorities said four people, including Martinez, were in the car when the vehicle flipped.

Martinez and two of the vehicle’s passengers were treated for cuts sustained during the crash at the scene by EMS. A third passenger was uninjured.
