ALBANY, Ga. -- HeritageBank of the South, which recently announced the purchase of five Park Avenue Banks including the two in Statesboro, has hired a new regional president to lead the southeastern Georgia expansion.
Gary Johnson, previously the chief credit officer of Sea Island Bank in Statesboro, has accepted the position of southeast Georgia regional president of HeritageBank of the South. Johnson's region will cover the two branches in Statesboro, as well as the locations in Baxley, Hazlehurst, Reidsville and Collins.
"The success of our regional expansion will directly depend on a strong leader and banker to lead the charge." said Len Dorminey, chief executive officer of HeritageBank of the South. "Gary Johnson's experience and dedication in Statesboro will no doubt be the driving force in acquiring new commercial customers and strengthening our footprint in southeast Georgia. We are glad to have such a great banker and proven leader on our team."
Johnson, a 25-year resident of Statesboro, has served as the former chair of the Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce and the Ogeechee Technical College Foundation.
Johnson and his wife, Debbie, have two grown children, Kate Anna and Sam.
