DCSS needs to address $6 million shortfall

ALBANY, Ga. -- During its Friday morning Finance Committee meeting, Dougherty County School System officials revealed that they have a $6 million budget shortfall that will need to be addressed by the end of June.

"The bottom line is as we stand currently, we are over budget by about $6 million," Executive Director of Operations and Business Services Robert Lloyd said. "We'll explain (how we plan to address) that at the next board meeting (on May 26)."

Lloyd said after the meeting that the school system's budget is $120.5 million and that it will need to be balanced before the 2011 Fiscal Year begins July 1.
