Following their wins last Saturday in the first round of the GISA state playoffs, three area girls soccer teams are back in action today in the Elite 8 round.
In Class AAA, Deerfield-Windsor, the No. 1 seed out of Region 3, will host Stratford in Albany at 4 p.m. after blanking Holy Spirit, 5-0, last Saturday.
DWS lost to Stratford three weeks ago, 7-0, but were without many of its key players who were either injured, or being rested for the Lady Knights' big region game the following week.
"We've been very focused all week, have no injures and we really worked on a specific game plan," DWS coach Aly Joslin said Friday night. "If we stick to that plan, it will be very, very good game for us."
In Class AA, two area teams remain: Sherwood and Terrell Academy.
The Lady Eagles of Dawson, who are a No. 1 seed, will host No. 3 Arlington Christian, while the Lady Eagles from Albany -- who come in as a No. 3 seed -- will travel to face Heritage Christian.
