ALBANY, Ga. -- In celebration of summer, one of the Good Life City's attractions will be bringing back a program officials say should boost their numbers.
The Flint RiverQuarium is reinstating its Third Thursdays program.
Through July, visitors to the RiverQuarium can gain admission to the exhibits and a movie in the Imagination Theater for a total of $5 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday. The deal will also be offered on June 17 and July 15.
"It's an expansion of hours in hopes of bringing people to the RiverQuarium," said RiverQuarium CEO Scott Loehr. "It's a way to showcase what we have.
"(The discount) is a really good deal."
Adult admission is generally $9 for the RiverQuarium and $6 for Imagination Theater, or a combination for $14. Under normal circumstances, the facility closes at 5 p.m. on Thursdays.
This Thursday, the aquarium will have guests from Gator Adventure Productions in Orlando. The team's experts have been featured on Animal Planet, Fuel TV and Travel Channel's "Extreme Animal Encounters."
Gator Adventure Productions shows deliver the message of crocodilian conservation through a combination of comedy and antics. Shows are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
This will be the third year the RiverQuarium has done this. Based on activity from the two previous times, Loehr said he expects things to go well again.
"We always experience more activity (in the area) during the summer months," he said. "This has been a good program, and the public has responded to it. We hope to have a good response. We hope people will take advantage of the program."
This Thursday will also be one of the final opportunities for guests to view the current changing exhibit "Alligators: Dragons in Paradise." The RiverQuarium Adventure Center will close May 30 to prepare and install the exhibit, "Alien Attack: Target Everglades," which is set to open July 3.
The RiverQuarium is located at 101 Pine Ave.
