ALBANY, Ga. -- The city of Albany will kick off a summer program for teens tonight at Henderson Gymnasium, Recreation and Parks Director Suzanne Davis said.
Totally Teen Zone is a grant-funded program based around character development, mentoring and life skills presented in a fun way, Davis said.
Tonight's program will have a karaoke theme and will start at 7 p.m., Davis said.
"It's a program that we hope gives teens something productive to do while teaching them certain character-building lessons in a way that is different than they may be used to," Davis said.
The events are always free and are typically designed for teens between 13 and 17 years old. Totally Teen Zone programs will continue each Friday through July 30, Davis said, and will take place at different gyms and facilities across the city, although the first three will be at Henderson Gym at 701 Willard Avenue.
