ALBANY, Ga. -- An anonymous donor has offered $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of computer thieves.
One dozen laptop computers worth $13,000 were stolen from Tower Medical Group offices at 2709 Meredyth Drive in north Albany over the May 2 weekend.
No confidential patient files were compromised, officials said. Also stolen were a wheelchair and some petty cash.
The investigation turned up no signs of forced entry into the building or the third-floor offices where the thief or thieves stole the computers.
Minor damage at another office may have been caused by the suspect or suspects at the time.
Authorities would like community help in identifying a "person of interest" from security camera footage taken at the medical offices.
The man was caught on video some time after April 29 and before May 4 in the building, said APD spokesman Steve Butler.
Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) or (229) 431-3288. The Spanish speaking APD-COP Tip Line is (229) 434-2677.
