Tip leads to burglary arrests

ALBANY, Ga. -- A resident's anonymous tip led to the arrest of two men on burglary charges at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Albany Police Department officials said.

Police arrested Brunson Turner, 20, and Brian Johnson, 23, at 101 S. Shadowlawn Drive, said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman.

"Upon arrival, the officers learned that the suspects were still inside the home," Banks said. "They surrendered after briefly barricading themselves inside the home."

After the two were taken into custody, they were transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning, Banks added.

After questioning, the police took them to Dougherty County Jail, where Dougherty County Sheriff's Office personnel booked them as charged with burglary, Banks said.

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, the men were not in the jail, a jail spokeswoman said. When people booked on charges do not show up on the computer, it could mean they have bonded out, she said. No bail details were available, she added.

Taking part in the arrest or assisting were uniform officers from the east and west police districts, the gang unit and detectives from the investigations bureau, Banks said.
