Albany, Ga. -- Officials have determined that a man whose body was found off the Georgia Power Dam Monday afternoon by bikers just off the RiverWalk trail, died of self-inflicted injuries.
Police officials are continuing their investigation, but they say that the man's body was discovered around 6 p.m. near the Georgia Power Hydroelectric dam in a secluded area just off the trail.
Albany Police spokesperson Phyllis Banks says the man, who isn't being identified pending notification of next-of-kin, was found laying in a grassy area near a car that is believed to be his.
Initial reports were that the man had sustained a gunshot.
