A clerk at a convenience store on the 400 block of Westover Road called police to report a suspicous man just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Homer Johnson was lucky the clerk spotted him.
Johnson, 69, wearing tan pants and jacket, suffers from dementia and was missing, stated an Albany Police Department e-mail.
He had apparently wandered away from the care center he calls home before 7 p.m., said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman.
"He was last seen heading west on Oglethorpe Boulevard after he walked away from an adult care center on the 700 block of Oglethorpe Boulevard," Banks said.
