Modeste: 29 small businesses certified in first quarter

Albany, Ga.: In its first quarter, the Dougherty County Office of Small Business Development reported that they certified 29 small businesses and have another 85 applications pending, officials say.

Director Pinky Modeste told commissioners that they had seen 31 vendors come into the office for bidding assistance, another 40 to receive help for developing a business plan and 43 to learn about marketing.

In total, the office helped 305 vendors during the first quarter of the fiscal year, according to a report presented by Modeste Monday.

The group also assisted 118 people with certification applications.

The group has spent a total of $41,293 with certified small businesses, the report states.
