ALBANY -- Both Sherwood basketball teams gave their new coaches victories on Monday at home in the season opener for both teams.
The boys dominated Bainbridge's Grace Christian Academy, 88-16, behind a balanced effort, as five players finished in double-digit scoring.
Rashard Davis and M.J. Vangure led with 16 points, while Alex Harrell and T.J. Clay added 12 and Terrance Burnette had 10.
Kaylee Dixon had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the girls to a 46-44 victory, while Maggie O'Conner added 11 points and seven rebounds and Alicia Evans had seven steals.
Both teams play Brookwood next on Friday.

WESTWOOD TEAMS SPLIT WITH TAE: The host Wildcat boys team beat Terrell Academy, 43-22, on Monday, but the girls dropped their contest, 47-36.
Jake Kotter (14 points) and John Vereen (11) led the Westwood boys (1-0).
Millie Foster (12 points), Carley Law (12) and Alex Barfield (11) led the TAE girls, while Miller Singleton had 15 points for the Westwood girls.

SGA BOYS 48, BYNE 38: The Warriors got 15 points from Parker Adams and a double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds) from Billy Grimsley as they defeated Byne Christian on Monday.
McKinley Chambless added 14 points and nine rebounds for SGA, which plays Macon's Windsor Academy on Thursday.

ABBEVILLE CHRISTIAN GIRLS 45, RANDOLPH SO. 39: Alabama's Abbeville Christian got by Randolph Southern, 45-39, on Monday.
Parker Rigsby led the Lady Patriots (1-2) with 11 points.
