ALBANY, Ga. -- Authorities say a bomb threat to the Dougherty County Courthouse Friday was a false alarm.
Albany Police Department Spokesperson Phyllis Banks said Monday a bomb threat was received by a 911 dispatcher at approximately 10:56 p.m. Friday.
Police reports indicated the caller was a female and told the dispatcher that the building should be evacuated.
Banks said APD investigators thoroughly searched the courthouse building and the area around Pine Avenue but did not locate an explosive device.
Authorities said Monday that Bubi, APD's bomb dog, was used during the search but did not pick-up any odors that of a possible bomb or bomb-making materials.
APD is still investigating the incident and are trying to positively trace the phone number that called in the bomb threat.
