ALBANY, Ga. -- A taste for Newport cigarettes has apparently resulted in Albany man running afoul of the law.
Convenience store videos show Keith B. Cobey snatching cartons of Newport cigarettes at two convenience stores last month, a Dougherty County Police Department official said.
At midnight Sept. 26, a Newport cigarette two-carton theft from a Kwickie Flash Foods counter was repeated at 8 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Big E's Country Store, said DCP Capt. Jimmy Sexton. The thefts were recorded by video cameras, he added.
Cobey, 38, snatched his favored cigarettes and ran to a PT Cruiser to make his getaway, a police report stated.
"Warrants have been taken charging him with two counts of robbery by sudden snatching," Sexton said. "Any help in locating him would be appreciated."
