ALBANY -- Homecoming was memorable, and now a few players on the Albany State football team have something to remember it by.
The SIAC honored some Rams Monday for their performances in a 34-7 win against Stillman on Saturday, with Jacob Hardwick taking home the team's top honor as Defensive Player of the Week.
Hardwick had six tackles -- four solo and four for a loss -- in the game, as well as two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry. He also added a sack and now has eight this season, which is tops in the conference.
"God," said Hardwick after the game, when asked how he's able to bring down the other team's QB so often. "(He's) the only reason."
Receiver Octavius Staton received an Honorable Mention after catching two touchdown passes for 41 and 27 yards, while quarterback Stanley Jennings won SIAC Newcomer of the Week after completing 10 of 19 passes for 230 yards and three TDs.
Jennings also received a nomination for HSRN National Player of the Week. Fans can vote for him until 2 p.m. Wednesday at www.HSRN.com.
