ALBANY, Ga. -- Artistic Director Mark Costello has announced that Theatre Albany will conduct auditions for its holiday production of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" at 1 p.m. today and Sunday at the theatre, 514 Pine Ave.
In the perennial classic, penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the Ghost of his former partner, which sets into motion a journey that will change him forever. "This is not a musical version," said Costello, "It's a straight forward telling of Dickens classic. Although, the framework is that of a group of Christmas Carolers 'performing a different sort of carol,' so there will be some singing. Still, it is not necessary for those auditioning to prepare a song."
Roles are available for men and women (ranging in age 10 and up). Auditions are open to the community and consist of cold readings from the script. Production dates are set for December 9-12 and 16-19. For more information, contact the theater at (229) 439-7193.
