COCHRAN -- While the women preferred not to play on a flooded field, the Darton College men's soccer team took the field against Middle Georgia on Friday.

Unfortunately, it didn't turn out well for the Cavaliers, as they lost the final game of their regular season, 1-0.

Darton gave up the game's lone goal on a corner kick from 25 yards out that had just enough curve to make it past the keeper.

"It's an unfortunate loss because we beat them earlier in the season, said Darton coach Bart Sasnett, who will try and prepare his team for Wednesday's NJCAA Play-In-Match against Gordon College.

The Cavaliers will play in the Region XVII tournament Oct. 26.

Mynor Perez, who came into the game No. 3 in the nation in points (56), wasn't able to move into the second spot.

GSW WOMEN 1, USC AIKEN 0: Julia Wells' score was the deciding goal after she was set up perfectly on a pass from Brittney Hill, and the Georgia Southwestern women won their game Saturday.

The win improved GSW to 3-12 overall on the season.

Defensively for GSW, freshman goalkeeper Courtney Allison had four saves to record the first shutout of her career.

"Today we put it together for 90 minutes and we came out on top," said GSW coach Tony Economopoulos. "It was long overdue."

USC AIKEN 1, GSW MEN 0: The Georgia Southwestern men weren't so lucky, as they fell in a closely played game to USC Aiken.

Michael Ardrey scored the only goal of the game on a shot from eight yards out that deflected off of David Porley's hand and into net for the go-ahead score at the 18:56 mark of the first half and USC Aiken was able to hang on for the win.

The loss drops GSW to 2-11 overall.

ASU FALLS TO CLAFLIN: The Albany State volleyball team continues to struggle, as it dropped three straight games to Claflin University on Friday, 20-25, 27-29, 18-25.

The Lady Rams fall to 13-9 overall 9-5 in the SIAC.

The play again Monday against Valdosta State.
