Albany native Josh Broadaway, who has played on the Nationwide Tour for the past five seasons, finished tied for fifth place this weekend after the final round of the first stage of PGA Tour Q-School qualifying Auburn, Ala.

Broadaway, who had to finish in the Top 23 — with ties — now advances to the second stage, where he’ll be one step closer to earning his PGA Tour card for next season.

Broadaway turned in rounds of 67 on Wednesday and Thursday at the Auburn University Club — and held the lead after those two rounds — then carded two straight 72s to finish tied for fifth, which was well inside the cut line.

The second Q-School stage will be held in mid November, and Broadaway must finish inside the Top 23 as well to advance to the final stage, which will take place Dec. 1-6.
