PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Sherwood ace Brock throws second no-no of season; Worth, SGA both win

ALBANY -- The 2010 high school softball season isn't that old, but already Sherwood Christian ace Anna Laine Brock has thrown two no-hitters.

The second came Thursday in a 15-0, five-inning rout of Calvary Christian during which Brock struck out 15 batters and improved her record to 9-3. SCA is also 9-3 and now 2-1 in region play.

Brock added two hits, while the big bats belonged to Kaylee Dixon (3 doubles, 4 RBI), as well as Kristina McNutt (two hits, 2 RBI) and Payton Couch (3 hits, RBI).

SGA 12, BROOKWOOD 0:

Bailey Ponder allowed five hits in the shutout performance and also smacked a double, a single and had four RBI. Heather Grebel also had two hits and two RBI, and Jenna Kitchens had two hits.

SGA improved to 10-1 overall.

WORTH COUNTY 12, DOUGHERY 0:

The Lady Rams stretched their win streak to eight games thanks to Haley Ellis' monster day. She went 2-for-4 with five RBI.

Kelly Weaver went 2-for-3 and Lauren Potts scored two runs, while Ellis' twin sister, Heather, went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Morgan Bell went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Weaver was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts.
