Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday School this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Leesburg will conduct homecoming services at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Steven A. Tuck is church pastor.

Liberty Parkway Church of God will host a gospel sing featuring Ron Blackwood and the Blackwood Quartet at 7 p.m. today to benefit radio station 90.7 FM. The sing also will feature Mandy Harrel and Robert Goodbread. The church is located at 1501 Schley Ave. A $10 donation is requested at the door.

Shellman Baptist Church is hosting a retirement celebration for the Rev. and Mrs. Olin Johnson from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 12. The Johnsons have been involved in churches in the Shellman and Randolph County area for 19 years.

Central Baptist Church will have a sale featuring home decor, gifts, jewelry, textiles and baked goods on Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funds will benefit programs for women at the church. The church is located at 1618 W. Third Ave.

Promiseland Apostolic Church will host Sweet Promises Day on Sept. 11 featuring free ice cream for the community. The outreach program will begin at 11 a.m. and continue as long as the ice cream lasts. The church is located at 2005 W. Oakridge Drive next to the fairgrounds.
