ALBANY, Ga.: Officials with the Albany Water, Gas & Light Commission say they're working to determine what caused a switch to errantly flip mid-morning, knocking out power to 1,500 customers in Northwest Albany including those at the Albany Mall.

Spokesperson Laurie Farkas says that both Georgia Power and WG&L are working to determine whether the outage was caused by issues associated with the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia or some mechanical failure by WG&L.

"We did lose power to 1,500 customers around 11 a.m. this morning but all had power restored in about 45 minutes, which I think is pretty good," Farkas said. "I just got a message from some of our people and they hope to have the cause narrowed down in about two hours."
