Man robbed, women shot at on Highland Avenue

ALBANY, Ga. -- The Albany Police Department responded to two separate incidents that occurred on the same street within hours of each other over the weekend, officials said Monday.

According to police documents, around 11 p.m. Saturday officers responded to a call of an armed robbery and aggravated assault on the 700 block of West Highland Avenue near the House of Jazz.

After officers arrived on the scene, 21-year-old Brandon Winns told APD investigators that he was approached by two black males who were armed with weapons after he parked his vehicle.

The two suspects manage to overtake Winns and took money, a cellular phone and his car keys from his pockets. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, police were again called to the 700 block of West Highland, where Shannon Hammock, 33, and Shenade Johnson, 30, told officers they were attacked by two unknown black males.

According to police documents, the two women told police they were walking down the street when the suspects shot at them without cause.
