ALBANY -- Riders will suit up once again in full attire for the 20th annual Albany Autumn Classic Charity Horse Show this weekend at Potter Community Center, 2621 Wildfair Road. Proceeds will benefit the Albany Humane Society.
The event kicks off Thursday evening at Doublegate Country Club with a party theme of "Diamonds in the 'Ruff'." Cocktails and diamonds will be served at 6:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. Tickets, which are $100, provide dinner for two and a chance at winning $10,000 in a reverse raffle. Also a silent auction will be going on throughout the evening.
The charity horse show is an all-breed event that opens on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with halter, hunter, western pleasure, paso performance, gaited performance and other assorted classes. The second day of showing begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. This day's events entail the hunter/jumper classes.
The 20th Albany Autumn Classic is a proud participant in The Marshall & Sterling League this year. Riders will have the opportunity to earn points that will count towards qualifying for the Marshall & Sterling League National Finals Horse Show.
Also new this year is the $1,000 Mini Prix class. Entrants have a chance at winning $500 for first place.
Throughout the weekend, vendors will be on hand, concessions will be plentiful, professional photography will be available and raffles will be drawn throughout each day.
This years host sponsor is Mane Event Farm of Leesburg.
