Kidnapping results in sexual assault

ALBANY, Ga. -- A woman walking through East Albany early Sunday found herself becoming the victim of a sexual assault.

Officers responded to the 2000 block of McAdams Road in reference to a kidnapping. There, a 35-year-old woman told the Albany Police Department that she had been raped by two black males.

The victim said that she had been walking down the 1800 block of East Broad Avenue sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 7:43 a.m. when she was approached by the suspects in a silver sedan.

"One of the suspects propositioned her for sex," said Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman with the APD, in an email to The Albany Herald. "When she refused his advances, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and pointed a black handgun at her and forced her into the car."

The victim said she was taken to George Ort Golf Course and sexually assaulted. She was later found in the parking lot of the club house.

The case remains under investigation.
