TIFTON -- The Tiftarea YMCA will host its 2nd annual Tour de Tifton Century Ride at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Tiftarea YMCA, 1823 Westover Road -- about 1 mile west of I-75, Exit 63B. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Tiftarea YMCA programs and scholarships for underprivileged youth.
The bike route will take participants through the countryside of Tiftarea. There will be four courses in all. A beginner's 10-15 mile course, a challenging and scenic 25-mile loop, a 62-mile metric century route and an advanced 100-mile route.
"We are very excited about our 2nd annual Tiftarea YMCA Tour de Tifton," Tiftarea Y CEO Jimmy Moore said.." The Tiftarea YMCA is dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
"It is our honor to be able to serve the youth in our area. We hope to bring in at least 150 riders from all over the state to participate in this fun day of riding and hope they will all stay and attend the free Michael W. Smith concert at Brodie Field that night."
Registration is $30 for adults and $50 for families. All youth under 18 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian rider.
Riders will receive a T-shirt, snacks and drinks at stops along the course and a post ride meal while supplies last. Camping is available on-site. RV hook-ups are available at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture less than a mile away.
All riders must wear a helmet.
