Local golf tournaments are here: Kiwanis Club classic tees off Friday and First Tee of Albany golf scramble is set for Monday

ALBANY - The Kiwanis Club of Lee County will hold its annual Fore Kids Golf Classic Friday at Grand Island Golf Club, and is currently seeking sponsors and golfers for this year's tournament.

The sponsorships start at $100 and go to $600. If interested please contact Jamie Knight, tournament director, at (229) 869-8284 or jamieknight@sb&tbank.com about becoming an event sponsor or forming a team. You can download the tournament's brochure at www.kiwanisclubofleecounty.com.

There will be several prizes awarded at the tournament, including: closest to the pin, long drive, hole-in-one prizes, a putting competition and a raffle and door prizes.

The tournament is a scramble format of three-man teams and there will be two flights. Registration begins at 11 a.m.. and lunch fllows at 11:30 a.m. The will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

FIRST TEE OF ALBANY SET FOR MONDAY

ALBANY -- The First Tee of Albany is presenting the 2nd annual Masters Cup fund-raiser golf tournament on Monday at the Doublegate County Club.

The Masters Cup is a four-man scramble format, and the cost is $550.00 per team. The proceeds go to benefit the First Tee of Albany, which has a mission statement "To improve the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf."

Last year the First Tee's outreach programs for aspiring young golfers in impacted more than 600 boys and girls.

There will be pre-tournament registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
