CVB earns Gold-level accreditation

ALBANY, Ga. -- The Albany Convention and Visitor's Bureau has obtained Gold-level accreditation from the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitor's Bureaus, officials say.

The distinction acknowledges months worth of work detailing every facet of the Albany CVB's operations from its personnel policies to its organizational structure, CVB Director Lisa Riddle said.

"This is a great thing for us, because it puts us in a class that only two other city's have been able to reach in the state," Riddle said.

The announcement, which was made by the GACVB Tuesday, means Albany will now join Columbus and Alpharetta as the only cities in the state to enjoy the gold-level distinction.

The accreditation is part of the Benchmark of Excellence Certification program has been developed by the GACVB to allow "destination marketing programs" like the Albany CVB, to measure themselves against a set of established industry standards and competencies, according information on the group's website.
