Goin' Hog Wild Auto Show to take place

TIFTON, Ga. -- The Tiftarea Auto Club will host the 19th annual Goin' Hog Wild Car, Truck and Bike Show on Friday and Saturday at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton.

The two-day show will include a car display competition, bike show, autocross race, and a burn out competition. Trophies will be awarded.

Ed Branch, 2011 Tiftarea Auto Club president, said he "expects the 19th Annual Goin' Hog Wild Car and Truck show will bring to our UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center of the biggest and best collections of show quality classics, customs, muscle cars, antiques, street rods, hotrods, modern day muscle cars and street tuners ever displayed during the history of our club."

The Auto Show awards will include: Top 20 in Show, Best of Show, Best Engine, Best Paint, Best Interior, and more.

The Tiftarea Auto Show is coordinated by the Tiftarea Auto Club to benefit area charities including: the Patticake House, Ruth's Cottage, American Cancer Society, Tift County 4-H Club, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army and other projects designated by the Auto Club.

Admission is $3 for adults; children 10 and under are free. All car clubs are welcome.

"This is great family fun," said club member Alex Csinos of Tifton. "Kids and adults of all ages enjoy cars, trucks and especially vintage cars from the era when they grew up. The competitors take great pride in their cars and trucks and each one has a story behind it. We just want people from all across South Georgia to come and enjoy the show and competition."

The car show entry fee is $20 and car corral entry fee is $10 per vehicle. The vendor spaces are $25 each. Send registration to Ed Branch, South Georgia Bank, P.O. Box 1505, Tifton, GA 31793 payable to the Tiftarea Auto Club.

The opening ceremony is Friday at 6 p.m. with a Cruise-In at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center. D.J. Philgood of Philgood Entertainment will be playing oldies. There will also be a free cookout for cruise in participants.

Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. with registration from 9 a.m. until noon and judging from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m.
