TIFTON, Ga. -- Great art and amazing performers from around the country and around the corner will fill Tifton's streets and parks for the 31st annual Love Affair Fine Arts Festival Friday evening, April 29, through Sunday afternoon, May 1.
One of South Georgia's oldest and most prestigious fine arts festival, the festival kicks off April 29 with the annual children's non-motorized parade on Love Avenue. The festival takes its name from this historical street in downtown Tifton.
The Annual Tift County Student Art Exhibit and the Eighth District Congressional Student Art Exhibit will be on display at the Tifton Museum of Arts and Heritage.
A Dance Extravaganza by several local dance studios will be presented in the parking lot of First Community Bank. A quiet dinner with poetry readings and jazz by the Fabulous Blues Devils will be offered at Three Graces at Lankford Manor on Love Avenue.
On Saturday, April 30, and Sunday afternoon, May 1, the festival moves to Fulwood Park. All activities are free to the public.
Two stages featuring a variety of performances, an Artists Market and Gallery, traditional festival foods and children's and family activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, and Sunday afternoon from noon - 5 p.m.
Approximately 40 artists and crafters will display and sell their art in the Artists Market and Gallery.
Original paintings, photographs, handcrafted jewelry, art glass, pottery, baskets, Cyprus furniture and more will displayed by artists from as far away as Wyoming and New York, and others from Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
Highlights on Saturday include Matsuriza Taiko performing traditional Japanese drumming. The Gizmo Guys will perform rapid fire juggling.
On Sunday, May 1, the Umdabu Dance Company will entertain with traditional Zulu dance from South Africa.
The Georgia Jubilee Stage will come alive all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon with choral groups, bands and acting troupes from Tift County schools and churches.
The Love Affair Fine Arts Festival is sponsored by the Tifton Tift County Arts Council in partnership with the ABAC Arts Connection.
