ALBANY, Ga. -- Two businesses near each other became victims of burglary and criminal trespass early Monday morning.
At 2:53 a.m., at 109 N. Broadway St. -- the site of Addicted 2 Retail -- burglars were found to have broken in through the front door of the facility.
"Officers responded to an active alarm," Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said. "Upon arrival, officers discovered that the front glass to the door was broken out by a piece of asphalt. The key holder responded to the business and advised that she was not sure if the suspect(s) took property.
"The key holder did advise that the drawer underneath the cash register was opened by the suspect(s)."
The burglars exited the same way they entered. There were no known suspects or witnesses Monday, the APD report said.
At 2:56 a.m., Tim's Artistic Arts at 105 S. Broadway St. was also hit.
"Officers responded to an active alarm," Banks said. "When they arrived, they observed a broken glass window. Nothing was taken."
When asked if there were reason to believe the two incidents were connected, Banks replied, "Not at this time. Both cases remain under investigation."
