Child pornographer sentenced to 25 years

ALBANY, Ga. -- Andrew Lastinger, 43, of Moultrie was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison for producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported. After the prison time, Lastinger faces 50 years under supervised release, the report said.

Serving a search warrant, FBI agents searched Lastinger's computers and other electronic media devices, turning up more than 100,000 downloaded images of child pornography, including images taken by Lastinger of a boy engaged in sexual acts and of Lastinger attempting to make a sexually explicit video with another boy, the report said.

Lastinger admitted uploading the images, making child pornography with one boy and trying to make the sex video with another boy. He pleaded guilty on May 6, 2010, to one count of information charging him with producing child pornography.

The case originated as part of Project Safe Childhood launched nationally by the U.S. Department of Justice. Locally, U.S. attorneys from the Middle District of Georgia prosecuted the case. The Colquitt County Sheriff's Office also investigated the case.
