ALBANY, Ga. -- Legislation passed by the General Assembly this year will be the topic Saturday when Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard conducts his monthly town hall meeting. Howard said he plans to have District 151 state Rep. Carol Fullerton, D-Albany, speak about the new laws' impact on Albany residents.
"These new bills will directly affect the lifestyles of Georgians, especially how we live and work," Howard said. "Some of the bills are very controversial."
Howard said that bills approved by the Legislature include Sunday alcoholic beverage sales (Howard has never voted favorably on an alcohol license during his years on the City Commission), HOPE scholarship changes, a controversial immigration bill and a tax break for airlines buying jet fuel.
The meeting is set to begin at 10 a.m Saturday in the East Albany Community Center,1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.
