Dustin Walker of Leesburg was the recent recipient of a Chick-fil-A scholarship. The company awards $1,000 scholarships annually to deserving team members.
Walker, who works at the Albany Square drive-through location, is the 27th team member from that location to receive the honor.
He is currently attending Georgia Southwestern State University studying business management.
Mercer University recently honored graduating senior Christopher T. Scoggins of Albany at its 2011 Honors Convocation. Scoggins received the Metzger Award for best empirical manuscript in psychology and the Hendricks Award for outstanding graduating student in psychology. Scoggins graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the College of Liberal Arts at Mercer University, Macon commencement.
He is the son of Janice and Melvin Scoggins of Albany.
Dervin Cunningham Jr. of Albany was among a group of 35 University of Georgia undergraduates awarded 2011 summer fellowships by UGA's Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities. The students spent the summer gaining investigative experience in a faculty-guided research environment.
Cunningham, a sophomore pursuing a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, studied under the guidance of biochemistry and molecular biology professor Kelley Moremen. After graduation, Cunningham would like to pursue a career in medicine and research.
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs Niles Reddick has announced the names of 238 students who have been selected for the Distinguished Achievement List for the 2011 summer term.

The following area residents graduated from Mercer University at the Mercer Macon commencement in May. Mercer President William D. Underwood conferred degrees to the following residents at the ceremony:
Andrea Yurshonta Baker of Albany earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from the College of Liberal Arts.
Aleiya J. Butler of Albany earned a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in psychology from the College of Liberal Arts.
Chris T. Scoggins of Albany earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the College of Liberal Arts.
Alexander T. Moreschi of Albany earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from the College of Liberal Arts.
Mary C. Duskin of Dawson earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from the College of Liberal Arts.
A University of Georgia student from Albany has received an internship from the American Society of Mammalogists.
James O. Moree, a graduate student in UGA's Odum School of Ecology, is the recipient of the 2011 ASM-AIBS Public Policy Internship. He is pursuing a master's degree in ecology under the mentorship of Gary W. Barrett, Eugene P. Odum Chair in Ecology.
Moree will intern during fall semester with the American Institute of Biological Sciences in Washington, D.C.
