Police investigating armed robberies

ALBANY, Ga. -- The Albany Police Department is investigating two armed robberies from Sunday and Monday morning.

At 10:24 a.m. Monday, at the Arbys on North Slappey Boulevard, a white male armed with a gun and wearing a mask entered the business. He demanded money from the register.

The employees complied, and the bandit ran out of the store, then fled in a red pickup or sports utility vehicle.

Police are also investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 9:33 a.m. Sunday at the Chevron station on the 1800 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard.

In that case, police said, a black male walked into the business and held clerk Muhammad Khan, 21, at gunpoint. He demanded money from the register and the employee complied.

At some point during the Chevron robbery, the suspect was able to go behind the counter and also take a cash box that contained an undetermined amount of money, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark colored jeans.

The suspect was captured on video and that video is being processed by the APD Crime Scene Unit. It will be made available as soon as that portion of the investigation is complete, a news release sent out by the APD indicated.

As of Monday evening, there were no updates available on either case.
