Mr. and Mrs. William H. Scharf of Charleston, WV are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie, of Washington, DC to Michael McCormack Dykes, of Washington, DC. Mackey is the son of Mary Helen McCormack Dykes and Michael Dykes of Albany.
The bride-elect earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Philosophy degrees in History from Yale University. She is a 2006 graduate of the Yale Law School. Miss Scharf currently serves as the Deputy General Counsel at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Strong of Westernport, Md. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Scharf of Toledo, Ohio.
The prospective groom is a 2000 graduate of Deerfield-Windsor High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Vanderbilt University in 2004. He currently serves as the White House Liaison at the U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Dykes is the grandson of Mrs. Louise McCormack and the late Robert Emmett McCormack, Jr. of Albany and Mr. William E. Dykes, Sr. and the late Rebecca Webster Dykes of Marietta, GA.
The wedding will take place in Lewisburg, WV in October.
