Albany State coach Mike White looks forward to surveying the offense and defense during today's intrasquad scrimmage.
ALBANY -- The Albany State football team will put its "Gold Rush" offense and the "Dirty Blue" defense on display for the first time today when it plays in an intrasquad scrimmage at 2:30 p.m.
ASU head coach Mike White said this week he hopes to get about 50 snaps out of the scrimmage, which will be held on ASU's main practice field.
"(I'm looking for the guys to be) competing, getting ready for the first game and hopefully we'll get through injury free," White said. "We'll have the No. 1 offense and No. 1 defense go against each other (so we can see where they both stand)."
ASU opens its regular season against Division I Savannah State on Sept. 3 in Macon. The game, which is dubbed the Music City Classic, will start at 5 p.m. The Rams, who finished 11-1 last season and were SIAC and SBN National Black College Football champions, are undefeated in six games against Savannah State.
Last year, ASU defeated Savannah State, 28-14, in the fourth game of the season.
