MOULTRIE, Ga. — Xavier Lavare Sims, 24, is under arrest in connection with a bomb threat made against a school in Colquitt County, said Colquitt County Sheriff Al Whittington.
“On Tuesday morning, a male voice made a call to Colquitt County 911 saying there was bomb in a school,” Whittington said. “He didn’t give a facility’s name. He said there would be a 1:15 (p.m.) detonation.”
All schools in the county were evacuated.
Whittington said he and his staff got the 911 tape and listened to it. They came up with Sims’ name and thought it was him. Sims already was wanted on warrants for other crimes, including statutory rape.
“A family member of his cooperated with us. His family member told us what we know about him (Sims) in this case,” Whittington said. “We found him hiding in a wall.”
Whittington did not go into details about how Sims hid in a wall or where the wall was. He did say that Sims had been staying with various relatives, most recently in Doerun.
All schools are expected to re-open today.
