APD: Five arrested, two at-large in shooting

ALBANY, Ga. — Five of seven suspected gang members who authorities say were involved in shooting at a police officer before dawn Tuesday sat in the Dougherty County Jail Wednesday.

They got a break from jail at 8:30 a.m. to appear in Magistrate Court to hear the charges against them at what is known as a first appearance hearing.

Roger Antonio Farmer Jr., 22, was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday in room 209 at the Regency Inn on the 900 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard. He was charged with aggravated assault, street gang activity, possession of a firearm during criminal activity and obstruction of an officer. He was not the shooter, said Phyllis Banks, Albany Police Department spokeswoman.

Steven Bernard Washington, 22, turned himself in to police at the Law Enforcement Center about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday. He was charged with aggravated assault and street gang activity.

The others were arrested on Tuesday. They were Cortavious Trinard Davis, 21; Sean Bernard Frazier and Michael Alfonzo Stephens both 22. They were charged with aggravated assault, party to a crime, and street gang activity.

Two men remain wanted in the case — David Lenard Stephens, 20, and Rolando Dupree Frazier, 32.

APD Officer Daniel Glover was the target of gunfire when he responded to a call on the 1200 block of East Residence Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was uninjured, but the rear driver’s side window of his patrol car shattered in the rain of bullets.

“These folks were intent on harming a police officer and we don’t take that lightly,” police Chief John Proctor said Tuesday afternoon.

Rewards from the city of Albany and Crime Stoppers could mean $6,000 for information leading to arrest and conviction of the two suspect still on the loose.

Why don't you post the arrest records for all these individuals, plus the number of active investigations they are a part of? Could the Bloods have become jealous of all the attention the Crypts are getting? I think the Federal Spotlight needs to shine on them also. Especially the firearms violations, which under Federal Law carry a mandatory ten years in Federal Prison, So the State doesn't have to pay to house them.
