Double standard applied to bad jokes

I do believe that God made every one of us and that He does not classify us according to our color, nor does He respect one race above another race, and for that we all can be thankful. Having said that, I also believe that Ward VI Commissioner Tommie Postell got a pass with his comment, “Oh well, all white people look alike anyway.” I believe, though that, Mr. Postell made that comment, as he said, in jest.

Suppose for an instant, that if I, a white person were a member of the Commission and were to make such a statement, “Oh, well, all black people look alike anyway.” Where in God’s creation do you think I would be today? I would already have lost most of my skin to tar and feathers! I would wager that every news carrier in the whole world have seized the opportunity to publicly air my ignorance.

Is it not kind of strange how the public views Mr. Postell as having made an honest mistake and how I would have been viewed as having made an evil statement, calculated to be hurtful?

He is Special,he is one of the good ole boys. And he thought it was funny. But alot of us did not.Yet you still hear him not saying he is sorry. And you know he never will he ment what he said. And anyone who votes for him is not living up to what MLK wanted.Sir you have to give respect if you want respect. That was not right. But you all get away with anything.

I don't really believe that he meant it as a mean-spirited remark, but it's time for him to use his filter. Don't say something because you think it's funny when you know that Albany is a tinderbox ready to explode because of the racial divide.

Act responsible and professional. Does he understand what that is?
