Homicide victim DeAndre Williams’ stolen 2002 burgundy Cadillac Escalade was recovered on Eight Mile Road at Dyson Court at about 11:20 a.m.

ALBANY — A 25-year-old man was fatally shot while on the parking lot of the Sandtrap Club & Lounge at 3:05 a.m. Sunday, stated an Albany Police Department report.

“The victim had been shot twice, chest and stomach, while in the parking lot,” said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman.

An initial investigation led Banks to say that the victim, DeAndre Williams, was approached by the suspect or suspects.

“An argument ensued, several shots were fired and the victim was struck twice,” Banks said. “The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s 2002 burgundy Cadillac Escalade with 26-inch chrome rims.”

A police Nixle alert sent to registered residents’ phones with a photo and description of the stolen Escalade attracted a resident. The resident called dispatch with the SUV’s location at Eight Mile Road and Dyson Court.

The vehicle shown, is not a Cadillac Escalade but a Dodge. Some people seems to think in order to settle anything is through the barrel of a gun. So misguided.

One of the cardinal rules I learned early In Bedford Stuyvesant was stay away from where you don't belong. If you are going to patronize areas and places that can be dangerous, know your surroundings and keep your space. Now anyone should feel safe to go anywhere at anytime in an ideal world, Albany, just isn't located in an ideal world at present. You probably have to go to some small town in the upper mid-west to find folks at peace with their surroundings. While going to the Sandtrap shouldn't contribute to getting killed, it seems in this case it did.

Probably like the last killing in Eastside. Person minding their own business and a couple of thugs set out to rob him. Only this time, the victim did not have a knife to defend himself. Now the taxpayers will spend 20 years taking care of these thugs. I would not go to a night club in Albany without at least a taser.

Uhh, not to nitpick, but do you not see the Cadillac emblem on the back? And it is unfortunate that so many residents seem to think the only way to solve a problem is by ending the life of the other person. This is a perfect example of how much this community needs to embrace Rachel's Challenge whole-heartedly.
