ALBANY -- Claud Fish Gordon, 84, of Albany, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home.

His funeral service will be Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11 AM at the Marine Corps Base Chapel with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Chaplain Ken Miller and Rev. Tommy Lowery will officiate.

Mr. Gordon was born in Fairfield, AL and had lived in Albany since 1967. He was a loving husband and father, and was devoted to his family. Mr. Gordon proudly served his country first in the Merchant Marines during World War II, then for 2 years in the US Navy, and then for 23 years in the US Marine Corps, retiring in 1967. During the Korean War, he was serving with the Marines during the Chosin Reservoir campaign. He was recognized as one of the Chosin Few. Following his military retirement, Mr. Gordon worked with Firestone, then with Civil Service at the Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany in the Navy Auto Den, retiring in 1992. Mr. Gordon was a Mason and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Gordon was a Christian, and Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. He worshiped at the Marine Corps Base Chapel. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, James David Gordon and Emma Key Seymour Gordon and his brothers, Robert Benjamin Gordon and James David Gordon.

He is survived by his wife: Martha Elizabeth Walker Gordon, Albany; 2 sons: Claud F. Gordon, Jr., Albany, William David Gordon and his wife Charlene Virginia, Monroe, LA; a daughter: Elizabeth Gordon Hodges and her husband Dwaine, Albany; 2 grandchildren: John Dwaine Hodges, Jr. and his wife Jan, Guntersville, AL, Christina Hodges Lorber and her husband Todd, Albany; 2 great grandchildren: Gordon Robert Lorber (who was named for his grandfather), and Garrison Radman Lorber; a brother: Raymond Dawson Gordon and his wife Virginia, Cullman, AL.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Thursday from 6-8 PM.
