An 81-year-old woman was fatally injured when she drove a silver Buick LeSabre west on Nelms Road across the Liberty Expresway at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek.
ALBANY — Lauta A. Walker, 81, of Camilla, died when she drove her silver 2004 Buick Park Avenue into the path of Maria T. Hicks, 42, of Columbus, driving in her 2011 Ford Escape at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Dougherty County Police Department report.
Walker was crossing the Liberty Expressway on Nelms Road heading west when she drove into the path of Hicks, who was northbound. Walker died at the scene. No charges will be filed, the report added.

Some of the elderly are able to navigate the roadways, but I think every elder individual needs to consider whether they are up to the challenge, and I may as well add, their family members should discourage the driving of that individual if they suspect he/she is not proficient in that task. Sorry for the loss.
